Responsibilities
The Truck Driver is responsible for, although not limited to:
- Performing routine equipment inspections (including cargo and freight related equipment)
- Ensuring the safety of themselves as well as others around them
- Communicating with other colleagues and business units regarding in-route progress and any concerns regarding given destinations
- Ensuring proposed freight/commodity are delivered in a timely manner
- Proper execution in relations to day-to-day operations
- Operate a variety of trucks and trailers to accomplish assigned loads
Safety:
The Truck Driver is responsible and accountable for safety on the road (including field, plant and warehouse facilities) and must understand and accept the importance and liability of the role.
This includes:
- Knowing, understanding, communicating and ensuring compliance with company safety policies and procedures while also complying with DOT/FMCSA regulations
- Follow safety procedures and protocols on all company property and destinations
- Communicate any safety and hazard issues to appropriate colleagues
- Participating in safety/incident investigations
- Ensuring that pre/post-trip vehicle and equipment inspections are carried out per company and regulatory requirements
Quality Control:
The truck driver is accountable for ensuring that the completed work meets quality standards.
This includes:
- On-site assessment prior to commencing work to ensure that the equipment (trucks, trailers, and other trucking related equipment) is ready, and addressing any concerns
- Evaluating and communicating quality issues/ concerns regarding commodity or freight being transported
