We are looking to hire professionals interested in joining the energy consulting field in the building industry. We are always looking for Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Raters to join our team. Professionals with an interest in Construction, HVAC, Sustainability, Energy Use, Energy-Efficiency, Quality Assurance, and/or Green Building should apply.
Our main office is in Ripon, California. Our Raters can be located anywhere in the state of California. HERS Raters ensure quality assurance for builders and/or homeowners. They are individuals certified by an accredited HERS Provider to inspect and test a home in order to evaluate each of the minimum rated features. Today’s building code requires that all new construction meet or exceed today’s Title 24, part 6 Energy Code Standard. The code mandates builders meet a minimum energy efficiency compliance. A HERS Rater is the third-party who arrives at a home or project to test and report if the home meets or does not meet the required minimum of the energy code compliance. Tests conducted may include Duct Leakage Test, Indoor Air Quality Test, Quality Insulation Installation Verification, Minimum Airflow, Refrigerant Charge, Low Leakage Air Handler, EER, and/or more.
Applicant must be comfortable climbing into tight spaces and on a 6’ ladder when necessary. The HERS Rater positions are a key pivotal point in our operation, and must have the ability to communicate with both our team and our clients.
This position can be located anywhere in California because every day they will be traveling from home to a jobsite location within their region. Our HERS raters must have strong time management skills and accountability. Once a HERS rater is certified and officially on our team they use company cars to travel. DuctTesters also supplies HERS raters with high efficient equipment and technology. We are willing to train and certify the right candidates if not already certified.
Must have a driver’s license, clean driving record, and clean background check. We are a successful, energetic, forward-moving organization looking for long-term, career oriented individuals — team players who want to utilize their strengths and be rewarded accordingly with the opportunity to grow.

DuctTesters was established because a tremendous disconnect had been recognized between the developer/builders and their trade contractors, as related to Title 24 Part 6 compliance. We have been working to close that gap by training and educating within each of the industries so that everyone can work together on accomplishing the common goal of building a superior product. We take pride in helping each of the trades involved to understand what their contribution is and how it fits into the larger picture, now and for the future.
Since our establishment, we have grown from a training entity to a full blown energy consultant. DuctTesters has been involved in more than 2,000 different projects. Projects include: new, existing, alterations, and additions of…resident owned, custom and production single family residential homes, commercial, affordable, and multi-family properties. We use a Third-Party consultant business model that allows us to provide insight and guidance to our clients, while assuring that we have our clients best interests in mind at all times. We employ a team of Certified Energy Analysts who are dedicated to quality work and a team of Certified Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Raters that ensure that the energy features proposed on paper are what actually gets installed during the construction process. Behind the scenes is a friendly office staff that supports it all and is eager to please each and every one of our clients. Not only do they handle all the paperwork, but they attend industry training too, ensuring they can handle the industry jargon and all the tough questions.
